TRACK ON 2 EVENT CENTRE ANNOUNCES CONCERTS AS PART OF 2022 DERBY WEEKEND

Lacombe, AB — The Track on 2 Horsing Racing & Event Centre is pleased to announce the first events that will take place during Lacombe Days 2022 as part of Track on 2 Derby Weekend with two incredible concerts. The Legendary Life of Tom Petty featuring Clayton Bellamy and The Legend of George Jones featuring Duane Steele will take place live outdoors in a unique under the grandstand show on Saturday July 16 and Sunday July 17 respectively along with standardbred horse racing earlier in the day on July 17.

ABOUT THE SHOWS
Be part of a special tribute to the man considered to be the greatest country singer of all time - George Jones. In a career that lasted more than 50 years, “the Possum” evolved from a young honky-tonker to a music icon as he recorded more than 150 albums and became the symbol of traditional country music. His music continues to inspire artists of all genres. Award-winning singer/songerwriter Duane Steele and his band will take you on a journey of Jones’ life through stories and songs. Steele will sing the hits of Jones that spanned five decades including his duets with Tammy Wynette to the No.1 country song of all time “He Stopped Loving Her Today”. You’ll also hear the stories of Jones’ life which echoed the country songs he sang - filled with success, failure, hard-drinking and heartbreak. The Legend of George Jones is a must-see for Jones fans and country fans alike.

Juno award-winning recording artist Clayton Bellamy will take you through an evening of songs and stories from one of the greatest singer/songwriters who ever lived: Tom Petty. Petty sold millions of records and topped the charts with
songs like “Learning To Fly, “American Girl” and “Don’t Come Around Here”. From The Heartbreakers, The Travelling Willburys, to his solo material and collaborations with Bob Dylan, George Harrison and Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty’s
music has moved generations of listeners. The Legendary Life of Tom Petty is a fully immersive concert and multi- media experience that will take you on a journey through his incredible story, starting with his humble beginnings in Florida to becoming one of the greatest rock and roll icons of all time. Petty’s life is told through powerful music and more powerful stories from the heart-warming to the heartbreaking, delivered passionately and expertly by Bellamy

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Duane Steele is among Canada’s top country recording artists and songwriters with a professional career dating back to 1984. The multi-award winning artist has released five studio albums and one greatest hits album, and has charted multiple singles on the Canadian country singles charts, including the Number One hit “Anita Got Married”. Duane has toured the world headlining his own shows and opening for some of the hottest acts in country music including Shania Twain, Terri Clark, Trisha Yearwood and Sammy Kershaw. Duane’s pure voice and authentic country sound make him the ideal artist to pay tribute to the legendary George Jones.

Clayton Bellamy is a JUNO award-winner and a 4-time CCMA Award winning member of the platinum selling country group the Road Hammers. He is also a mesmerizing singer, a spectacular guitar player, the SOCAN songwriter of the year, a producer, and a television host. Bellamy is a Tom Petty super-fan whose own career was influenced by the authenticity and honesty of Petty’s music and lyrics. In The Legendary Life of Tom Petty, Bellamy channels the energy and spirit of Petty in a live performance that is straight from the heart.

Lyndsay Butler is scheduled to open the show on July 16, while Joe Nolan is slated as the opening act on July 17.  Both artists have appeared regularly at the Track on 2's Jim Beam Stillhouse Songwriters Sessions.

Tickets will go on sale May 13 at 10:00 AM and will start at just $55 plus service charges and tax and will  be available online at TheTrackon2.com and Eventbrite.
